The Villager Tavern is such a great Nashville hidden gem and one that deserves your attention. I always feel safe here even as a woman going into a bar alone, and I always end up making friends with a stranger. Everyone is super friendly and it truly is a one of a kind, no frills experience. They even offer N/A High Rise THC seltzers for those of us that are "Cali sober". If you're ever in the Hillsboro village area, be sure to check it out. The events they throw are always entertaining and the people that run the place are wonderful. Come for the darts and beer and stay for the awesome people.

I've lived here for 5 years. Every time my family comes to visit, this is the only place they want to come back to. Villager IS Nashville. Also, best jukebox in town !!

A Nashville Gem! If you're searching for the heart and soul of Nashville, look no further than The Villager Tavern! This local treasure has earned its reputation as the city's best dive bar, blending the warmth of Southern hospitality with a vibrant atmosphere that keeps you coming back for more. Let's start with the food--oh, the food! The gumbo here is an absolute revelation. Bursting with bold flavors and the perfect balance of spices, it's hands down the best you'll find in Nashville. Each spoonful transports you straight to the bayou, with tender pieces of sausage and shrimp swimming in a rich, savory broth. It's comfort food at its finest! And if you're a fan of po' boys, The Villager's roast beef po' boy is a must-try. The beef is succulent, piled high on a perfectly crusty loaf, and slathered with just the right amount of gravy. It's an explosion of flavor with every bite, and you'll be craving it long after you leave. Now, let's talk about the juke box. This isn't just any juke box; it's arguably the best in the city! With an eclectic mix of classic tunes and hidden gems, it sets the perfect soundtrack for your evening. Whether you're in the mood for some soulful blues or toe-tapping rock, The Villager's juke box has got you covered. It's also a great venue for live music, such as their weekly songwriter's night and jazz nights. The Villager is the kind of place where you can lose yourself in music while sipping a cold drink and soaking in the vibe. But what truly sets The Villager Tavern apart is its unexpected charm. While you might think of a dive bar as a place for cheap drinks and good food, The Villager surprises with its art displays. You'd never expect to find such an array of local art in a dive bar, but here it flourishes! Vibrant paintings are hung throughout from local artists Tobias Piarrot, Jessica Bleu and Brenan, it's Nashville's most unlikely place to see great art. The combination of artistic expression and laid-back ambiance makes every visit a delightful experience. In a city known for its music and culinary delights, The Villager Tavern stands out as a quintessential Nashville experience. Whether you're a local or just passing through, this spot deserves a spot on your must-visit list. Come for the gumbo, stay for the darts and $9 pitchers of Shiner Bock, and enjoy the tunes while appreciating some fantastic art. You won't be disappointed!

I don't like hanging out at bars. Villager Tavern is the exception to this. Everytime I go to Villager I know I'm gonna run into people that are not only friendly but COOL. Bartender/owner Andrew is awesome, music is jukebox only (but the music is all sick), and the food is actually good??? Great crowd, great atmosphere, tons of beautiful and gorgeous women 10/10. THE Nashville gem

If Rhonda is there you are guaranteed a few things : good jokes, good vibes, cold beer & hot gumbo ! I watched the semi finals of the euro football tournament here and made fast friends with 2 of the regulars. Cold draft Guinness is always a plus in my books & They have darts in the back and tons of reading in the bathrooms all in all a great dive bar !

The Villager Tavern is one of Nashville's hidden treasures, so much so that I have half a mind not to leave a review because I don't want tourists frequenting it too much (no offense, visitors!). This is a dive bar - if you want an Espresso Martini or a Green Tea shot, go hit up Broadway. Seriously. The Villager is seltzers and beer only. There are dart boards in the back (they even have a local darts league!) and plenty of board games to play with your friends. This eclectic dive is owned by some nice folks from New Orleans, and while they have a small food menu, what they have is delicious and worth trying. My personal favorite is the homemade gumbo and the turkey sandwich (get the combo!). They also have a killer roast beef sandwich and various chips. Every few weeks the bar hosts an event, and they're so much fun! Since the owners are Louisianans, Fat Tuesday is obviously a major one, and the family has a FREE (yes, I know) food buffet they provide to patrons. A free buffet of cajun food?? You won't meet a nicer family - no one hosts events like this in Nashville with such an offering and they have live music at most of their events. And the food is good af. If it's your birthday, make sure you chug some beer out of the birthday dog bowl - it's a tradition!! It's also a tradition to have your photo snapped and posted on the wall. You'll notice that the bar used to be a smoker's bar and there's 3 decades worth of photos on the wall (you can tell which ones were there pre-the no smoking). Last but not least, occasionally you'll find local artist Amy sitting in the bar, ready to paint you a beautiful landscape, portrait, or whatever you request. My husband had her paint a picture of our cat and it is one of my favorite pieces of art! THE VILLAGER RULES. Ignore the dumb Karens leaving bad reviews. Imagine creating a Yelp account just to crap all over a local small business (how embarrassing!).

Love Dives = A for the Villager I love the Villager. It's an old-fashioned neighborhood bar where you'll meet everyone from local shopkeepers to Vanderbilt University students. The beer is cheap and the company is good and I imagine it looks exactly like it did 50 years ago. Thanks
